"Bioregulatory medicine is wholistic (with emphasis on the "whole"), in that it views the body as a living system - and a matrix of interconnectedness - physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. When the human body is functioning properly, it is a magnificent, self-regulating bio-system of mind, body and spirit. The goal of bioregulatory medicine is to support - or restore - that self-regulating state of wellbeing and self-healing."
Functional Medicine
Functional Medicine is a systems biology-based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease. Each symptom or differential diagnosis may be one of many contributing to an individual's illness.
As the graphic illustrates, a diagnosis can be the result of more than one cause. For example, depression can be caused by many different factors, including inflammation. Likewise, a cause such as inflammation may lead to a number of different diagnoses, including depression. The precise manifestation of each cause depends on the individual's genes, environment, and lifestyle, and only treatments that address the right cause will have lasting benefit beyond symptom suppression.

If the people formulating the supplement never study how the body works as a system, naturally, then chances are there will be unforeseen consequences. Taking a poorly formulated supplement may interrupt the way all the systems of your body interact with each other. These kinds of supplements are kinda like walking into a room full of people and shouting about whatever conversation you want to have without any regard to the individual conversations that have been taken place.
Case Study #1- A for Effort
This popular brand has many good ingredients and it's backed by science, it has the scientific study references linked up for public viewing. It has many of the absorbable forms of the vitamins listed so this is one of the better ones although I still wouldn't recommend it because it is incomplete and over time it can create a deficiency because it has 30 mg of zinc and the antagonist mineral, copper, is missing. I mentioned this in episode 121 of The Panacea Concept. An odd choice here is also Ashwagandha which is primarily used to help with calming the body. You have b-vitamins which help pick people up as well as Co Q 10 then to me it seems odd to include a calming ingredient.
Case study #2- MultiFiller
Now let's look at the brands people can pick-up at Walmart for less than $20. Brace yourselves. This mysterious brand only shares one part of the Vitamin A that is in the supplement and it is 10 percent of the vitamin a is from beta-carotene. You actually have to go to the ingredient list at the bottom and keep in mind companies do not have to disclose all ingredients in the product. Most of the forms you see here are either poorly absorbed by the body, or toxic, or have a laxative effect, so essentially people are paying for the idea of vitamins more than they are paying for something that their body needs. This product has fillers such as maltodextrin, gelatin, Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, Talc.
"According to a 2012 study published in PLoS ONE, maltodextrin can change your gut bacteria composition in a way that makes you more susceptible to disease. It can suppress the growth of probiotics in your digestive system, which are important for immune system function. The same study showed that maltodextrin can increase the growth of bacteria such as E. coli, which is associated with autoimmune disorders like Crohn's disease. If you're at risk for developing an autoimmune or digestive disorder, then avoiding maltodextrin may be a good idea."
Maltodextrin: What Is It and Is It Safe?
Maltodextrin is one of those widely used but little-understood food additives. So how are you supposed to know what it…"
https://www.healthline.com/health/food-nutrition/is-maltodextrin-bad-for-me#when-to-avoid-it
My basic takeaway for you is it can be artificial and GMO. It spikes blood sugar, it's a cheap, addictive microbiome disrupting (thus immunosuppressing) preservative/filler.
Gelatin, Maybe used for the capsule or used as a filler (not sure) but it is made from whatever animal they decide to use, so sourcing may be a concern.
Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose- It is extensively used in the food industry as a stabilizer, as an emulsifier, as a protective colloid, and as a thickener.

Talc- "Why Is Talc in Dietary Supplements? Talc is used as an anti-clumping agent. It also prevents supplement ingredients from sticking to tablet-making machinery. As a food additive, talc is "generally recognized as safe" (GRAS) by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). GRAS refers to a substance added to food and considered safe by experts. The GRAS designation means a substance does not need to meet Federal Food Drug, and Cosmetic Act food additive tolerance requirements. Based on expert opinion, it is simply assumed these substances are safe when consumed as intended. Talc in dietary supplements is not known to pose a cancer risk. However, this is based on the assumption that the talc is not contaminated by asbestos."
The bottom line is it necessary to be in the supplement, no. Could it be contaminated with asbestos, yes.
https://www.asbestos.com/blog/2018/08/21/talc-dietary-supplements-asbestos/
"The scientific evidence to suggest a link between talcum powder and the risk of ovarian cancer is disputed, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) generally considers cosmetic-grade talc to be safe. According to internal records, however, J&J knew about the potential connection between genital talcum powder use and cancer more than 40 years ago. Instead of informing consumers about the possible relationship, however, the company refused to add a warning to talc product packaging or change its formula to use safer ingredients, such as cornstarch."
Propaganda Alert!!
The common mainstream narrative on increasing safety for supplements is that it should be regulated by the FDA even though common sense will tell you their history has shown they let dangerous drugs, and ingredients into the market all the time. Silver fillings are now no longer recommended by the FDA as safe for everyone after decades of widespread use. Thanks to natural practitioners of common sense, many people have already been saved from the FDA's approach of all chemicals are innocent until proven guilty, and only when it becomes an obvious problem to millions will we consider looking at the evidence.

Case study 3- Pixy Dusting
Many whole food ingredients and all you need is one tablet. So what’s wrong here? For every ingredient, you have to consider what is the effective dosage. When you have over 50 ingredients in 1 tablet is it possible to have the effective dosage of all 50+ ingredients? Let us look at the RDA, many supplements are at around 100% RDA. Why is that bad? Because RDA is not based on functional levels or optimal levels a person needs but rather the minimum a person should take to avoid an emergency based disease. Practically everything here is underused and just for show, this whole product is a filler.
Also missing copper but this product is at such a low dose that it may not do anything harmful.
(No Picture, Just Ingredients List for) Case Study 4- Just Plain junk

This one is one of the most popular and best-selling brands as well.
Once again, non-absorbable forms of vitamins and minerals are used in this product and they can have a laxative effect, and/or toxic.
Last case study, #5- Actually Good
All absorbable forms of vitamins and minerals, dosed appropriately, antagonistic minerals balanced (in ratio) as to not imbalance the body’s mineral stores, and has all of the checks in place. 3rd party inspected, Good Manufacturing Practice Certified, tested for heavy metals, non-GMO, used in clinical practice…
